Due to the intricate nature of PCB art, I’ll be creating a detailed tutorial on how to make PCB art in a future post.

Designing the PCB and schematic

There are many different programs you can use to make schematics and PCBs. For this project I used KiCad. KiCad is an open-source software suite used for electronic design automation (EDA). It helps in designing and simulating electronic hardware, particularly for printed circuit boards (PCBs). KiCad provides an integrated environment for schematic capture, PCB layout, and viewing manufacturing files as well as tools for simulation.

Surface Mount SMD PCB

Surface Mount Devices(SMD) are tiny electronic components that directly attached to the surface of a Printed Circuit Board(PCB). This method is called Surface Mount Technoloy(SMT). Some of these components can be extremely small which is why I often use a electronics microscope to help me see the tiny components.
